Courtyard Housing Development - Bury St Edmunds

For this recently constructed scheme, on a tight site next to a busy road, we designed an inward facing courtyard development of 8 semi-detached houses and six flats.

The houses work around an exclusive and modern internal floor plan that is largely open-plan to create flexible interior spaces with vaulted ceilings and feature fenestration.

Despite the relatively high density, a surprising amount of privacy was achieved through side-to-side gardens (rather than traditional back-to-back) and a careful consideration of building orientation and internal planning.
