Barn Conversions - Finchingfield, Essex

These two barns were listed and stood in a flood plain and so required a very carefully considered approach to obtaining consent for their conversion to individual dwellings.

To overcome the potential flood risk we convinced the conservation officers to allow the barns to be raised onto a new plinth and elsewhere we worked to achieve detailing that maintains the rich historic character of the structures.

The conversions work by contrasting the simple external styling with modern and elegant interiors that receive a surprising amount of natural light.
